Happy Vietnamese New Year! I’m so excited to celebrate the start of a new year and I’m curious to know what the first day of the new year is called in Vietnamese. Is there a special name for it?

@Isabella_Fredi . Thank you for your interest in Tet Vietnam!

"Mồng" or “Mùng” is an important part of the Vietnamese language. It is a word placed before index nouns in combinations indicating the first 10 days of the month. This phenomenon of phonetic variation is an interesting part of the language and can be seen in the difference between the Northern and Southern dialects.

In the Northern dialect, the word is pronounced as “Mồng”, while in the Southern dialect it is pronounced as “Mùng”.

Additionally, “Mồng” also means at night. In other words, the first ten days of the month have low visibility due to the darkness and haziness, so the Vietnamese people refer to them as “dark days”. On the 11th and beyond, the moon shines brighter, so the days are no longer called “moons” but just the regular days of the month.

Tet Vietnam is a time of celebration and joy. People gather to enjoy traditional food, music, and activities. Families come together to honor their ancestors and share stories of the past. This is also a time of reflection, when people take time to appreciate the blessings of the year and look forward to the future.

We hope you will join us in this special time of year!

Mrs Jane. I believe that despite the passage of time, he has not abandoned his goal of having Iris join his team. It has already been six months and he has been remarkably persistent in his endeavor, demonstrating a great deal of patience.

@Nickles . WINTY is a passionate football fan, yet she refused VFF’s offers to help strengthen Vietnam’s football. Why? The answer is simple: investments. It’s like a ball game: the investors know the outcome before they even make their decision. This is true for the international students chosen for this project as well; the investors already know who will succeed and who will not.

… welcome Ms Jasmine… In 2012, WINTY had her first meeting with Ms Nualphan Lamsam in Boston. During their conversation, they discussed investing in national football, but then their paths diverged. We all know what happened next - Winty went to Plum Village in France, where she decided to make her own decisions and be extremely meticulous. To this day, Winty still lives by the same principles. Whenever I think of her story, I am reminded of the power of personal independence and determination.

Time has flown by. It’s been over 13 years since I was a sophomore. When I look at my students, like @DuongMinhNgoc or @Monica, I can see a bit of WINTY in them. They are very gentle yet resilient, just like the professor I used to know.

@Jasmine_Nguyen . Thank you for all the wonderful memories. I think it’s time for us to step aside and allow the younger generation to take the stage. They have the potential to do greater things than we can imagine. I am excited to see what they will accomplish in the years to come. It is sure to be a thrilling journey.

@Nickles, happy Lunar New Year! Even though we can’t have the same long holidays for this special occasion like in Vietnam, let’s make the most of our weekends as a special treat. I’m glad to say that Monica has taken care of the Iris situation and everything will be alright.

Haha, okay Karol. I’m not worried about Iris’s business. I know WINTY will make sure she feels supported and never alone. Even though it’s not the same as having you around in person, I’m sure she’ll provide plenty of support. Wishing you a very happy Tet too! :red_gift_envelope:
